  2. Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
    • Next to Madame Tussauds is Ripley’s Believe It or Not! A curious place to visit, to see oddities and unusual things, across twenty themed galleries.
  3. Times Scare
    • Located on 8th Ave between W 42nd and W 43rd is Times Scare, an interactive walk-through horror adventure.
  4. National Geographic Encounter
    • NatGeo Encounter takes you on a deep dive into the ocean using photo-real animation with giant projection screens and immersive sound.
  5. Gulliver’s Gate.
    • Gulliver’s Gate is a massive exhibition of a miniature world. The 50,000-square-foot exhibition has incredibly detailed miniature models of cities and countries of the world with iconic sites from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. These are both great activities for families with children.
  6. Disney Store
    • Alright, not an attraction in the traditional sense of the word, but an attraction for Disney buffs nonetheless.
    • Enjoy 2 floors of displays, shopping, and the occasional mascot.
  7. IUss Intrepidntrepid Sea, Air & Space
    • The USS Intrepid is a retired aircraft carrier located at Pier 86, at W 46th On and around it you will find a collection of American military and maritime aircraft and other vehicles.
    • It is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.

    NFL Experience

    • The NFL Experience brings fans closer than ever to the game and their favorite teams with its live action, interactive games, state-of-the-art 4D theater and the Vince Lombardi Trophy!
  8. Top of the Rock
    • Rockefeller Center is home to NBC Studios which you can tour. You’ll also find here the Top of the Rock attraction. To experience either of these two, you will want to enter the center from 6th Ave. You’ll find The Top of the Rock midway through. This is the home of Saturday Night Live.
    • The entrances are gilded and adorned with wonderful mosaics.
  9. High Line
    • The High Line is an elevated linear park along a former rail line. It stretches 1.45 miles along 10th Ave from W 30th (in lower Midtown) to Gansevoort St in the Financial district.
  10. Empire State BuildingEmpire State Building
    • The Empire State Building was finished in 1931, also in the Art Deco style. It is currently (2018) the 5th tallest skyscraper in the United States.
    • It is located on an original lot of an 18th-century farm. The Astor family built a hotel here in the 1890s but in 1920, they sold it and it was torn down to build the structure we see now. The Airship mast on top, now an antenna, ensured it would be the world’s tallest building, beating the Chrysler Building and others in construction at the time.
    • Visiting the Empire State Building costs $37 for adults and will take about an hour of your time.

    • New York’s spy museum and experience, here you will dodge lasers, crack codes, lie and spot liars.
    • SpyScape is located at the intersection of 8th Ave and W 55th

  1. Plage de l'horlogePlage de l’Horloge
    • As you walk to the very tip of Clock Tower Pier, you will find a small sandy beach where you can sit, take in the sun and relax. It wraps around the pier on a lower level which cuts out most city noises. From various spots, you can enjoy a great view of Saint-Helen’s Island on which you can see La Ronde, Montreal’s Six Flags theme park as well as the Stewart Museum which is the long wooden structure before the bridge and the Tour de Lévis – a tower at the highest point of the island. You can also admire the Jacques Cartier bridge and gaze at the boats of all sizes traveling under it.
    • There is a $2 entry fee per person.
  2. Bateau-MoucheBateau-Mouche
    • Montreal’s Bateau-Mouche reminds you of Paris’ Seine river cruises on low glassed-in longboats. Take a 60 or 90-minute cruise to either explore Old Montreal and the city proper from the Saint-Lawrence river or to dine on a riverboat. Cruises start at 12:30 daily until 7 pm from June to mid-October.
    • Pricing varies from $12.50 for children to $25 for adults. Cruises leave from Jacques Cartier Pier.
  3. Saute-Mouton Jet Boating
    • Are you looking for a trill? Do you enjoy getting soaked? Look no further, Saute-Mouton is the attraction you’ve been looking for. Caterpillar engine speedboats take you from the small marina next to Montreal’s Clock Tower pier and SOS Labyrinthe on the Saint-Lawrence to the Lachine Rapids. Then, it proceeds to toss you around in the rapids as if you were a rag doll, a soaking wet rag doll.
    • Tours run from June to early October from 10 am to 6 pm. You should consider reserving in advance as tours are usually full. A ride will cost between $49 for children and $69 for adults.
  4. SOS Labyrinthe
    • This labyrinth constantly changes its 2 km floor plan. You will find it located in the far east of Old Montreal, in the middle of Clock Tower Pier, in a former longshoremen’s warehouse. It is open weekends from 10 am to 8 pm from May until October with some weekdays and extended hours at different days. Check their website for specific dates. Rates start at $12.50 for children to $16.50 for adults but they also have family and group rates.
  5. Grande Roue de MontréalGrande Roue de Montréal
    • The city of Montreal built this giant Ferris wheel, to the right of SOS Labyrinthe, in 2017 to commemorate its 375th anniversary. Because it is located in the middle of the Bonsecours Basin, next to Terrasses Bonsecours, it presents outstanding views of:
      • Old Montreal,
      • the Old Port of Montreal,
      • the mighty Saint-Lawrence river,
      • Notre-Dame and Saint-Helen’s Islands in the middle of the Saint-Lawrence
      • the Jacques Cartier and Victoria bridges.
    • All in all, riding will cost you between $20-25 and you should reserve well in advance as places are limited.
  1. Tyrolienne MTL ZipLine
    • You will find Tyrolienne Mtl Zipline located in the Old Port of Montreal next to SOS Labyrinthe. Shortly, you will be ziplining for 1200 feet to the Bonsecours Basin. This attraction should not take more than 15 minutes.
    • It is open from 11 am to 9 pm. In any event, fees range from $17 for children to $20 for adults and there are weight and age restrictions.
  2. Voiles en Voiles
    • This aerial amusement park sits next to Tyrolienne Mtl Zipline, across from the Bonsecours Basin. Indeed, it is an immersive adventure park where you climb aboard life-size replicas of a royal and a pirate ship, each over 100 feet long.
    • There is a $45 fee to access the park for up to 4 hours. Tha is to say, it is open daily from 9/10am to 8/11pm from mid-June to early September and weekends throughout September and October.
  3. Paddleboats
    • Paddleboats are available for rent from April through to October, from 10 am to 8 pm.  Accordingly, renting a paddleboat is a great way to relax in the Bonsecours Basin in the heart of the Old Port of Montreal. Of course, you will enjoy great views of the Grande Roue de Montréal, people ziplining and Terrasses Bonsecours.
    • Pricing starts at $22 and combos are available to include quadricycles.

  1. Alcatraz IslandAlcatraz Island
    • Alcatraz Island welcomed the 1st lighthouse in the Western United States. It became a federal penitentiary from 1934 until 1963 and has since become a must-see attraction. Consider booking your visit for several months in advance due to regularly high demand.
  2. Coit Tower
    • Lillie Hitchcock Coit donated to the city the necessary funds to build this art deco tower in 1924. Construction completed later in 1933 and the observation deck at the top opened for visitors. From the top, a full 360 view of the city and the bay is available and breathtaking. The elevator ride is 7$ (or so).
    • Further, there is a Christopher Columbus statue in the parking below, in Pioneer Park. The city’s Italian-American community donated it back in 1957.
  3. Fisherman’s Wharf
    • Fisherman’s Wharf is more fully covered by another post. It boasts The USS Pampanito (a WWII submarine), Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, and Ripley’s Believe it or not. You will also find here Ghirardelli Square and many other attractions and restaurants.
  4. Powell Hyde turntableFriedel Klussmann Memorial Turnaround
    • The Friedel Klussmann Memorial Turnaround may also be called the Powell-Hyde Cable Car Turntable on several maps. It stands at Hyde and Beach Street. See here classic San Francisco cable cars arrive and turn around for their return trip to Powell street.
  5. Ghirardelli Square
    • The Ghirardelli Chocolate factory originally opened in this now converted exterior shopping mall. Indeed, restaurants and shops open daily, next to Aquatic Park.
    • In particular, Château de Blois in France’s Loire Valley served as inspiration for the Ghirardelli Square Bell Tower.
  6. Golden Gate Bridge
    • The distinctive orange bridge opened in 1937. The Golden Gate Bridge practically rhymes with San Francisco. There are many vantage points from which to enjoy seeing it, both from up-close and further away throughout the city and water’s edge.   7. Lombard StreetLombard Street
    • Lombard Street extends east-west from The Embarcadero, in the North Beach neighborhood, and ends at Presidio Blvd. It runs through Cow Hollow, Russian Hill.
    • However, Lombard Street is famous for a one block stretch between Hyde and Leavenworth Streets. It features 8 hairpin turns on a 27-degree angle. Beautiful flowerbeds flank its entire length.

    • Pier 39 is in the Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhood of San Francisco and has been covered by another post already. This Pier boasts the Aquarium of the Bay, as well as quite a few other attractions, shops, and restaurants. Snap awesome pictures of Alcatraz and Angel Islands, the Golden Gate and Bay bridges from the edge of Pier 39. On the western side, sea lions bask in the sun for your viewing pleasure.

    • The USS Pampanito (SS-383, Balao class) is a decommissioned WWII submarine. It served from 1944 until 1971. The USS Pampanito berths at Pier 45 and is behind the SS Jeremiah O’Brien, next to the Musée Mécanique.

    • The SS Jeremiah O’Brien which is a 1940’s Liberty Ship Memorial. The latter is a still active passenger vessel which served throughout WWII and beyond. Moreover, it made its way to Normandy in 1994 to commemorate Operation Overlord. The SS Jeremiah O’Brien berths at Pier 45 and is in front of the USS Pampanito, next to the Musée Mécanique.
  6. Madame Tussauds San Francisco
    • Madame Tussauds is located on the Embarcadero near Piers 43 and 45. Here you will encounter a slew of A-list actors, sports legends and international icons. You can also experience the Spirit of San Francisco.
  7. Hornblower Classic Cable Cars
    • Hornblower Classic Cable Cars is a fleet of fully restored cable cars used for City Tours departing across from the World Famous Fisherman’s Wharf Sign. Indeed, these will take you around the city and the bay.
  8. red & white fleetRed and White Fleet
    • The Red and White Fleet operate several San Francisco Bay cruises or various durations. You will see famous landmarks up close such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge. The Red and White Fleet operates from Pier 43 ½ .

    • Indeed, the stars represent the best in music, cinema, television, radio and live Theater. However, a few exceptions exist. 4 round Moon landing moments are located at the corners of Hollywood and Vine.

    • The Hollywood Wax Museum finds itself located on Hollywood Blvd at N.Highland Ave. Entry is free for children, $13 for youths and $23 for all 12 years old and over.

    • This museum presents the history of Hollywood including props, costumes, scripts, together with photos of famous films and historic events that have occurred here.
    • The Hollywood Museum neighbors Hollywood Wax Museum at Hollywood Blvd and N.Highland Ave. Entry is $5 for children, $12 for teens and seniors and $15 for adults.
  5. Runyon Canyon
    • Runyon Canyon sits at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains. It is a stone’s throw north of Hollywood and close to the Hollywood Sign. The park measures 160-acres and is a must of hiking enthusiasts. You can find entrances at the end of Fuller as well as off of Mulholland Drive at its top.
  6. Guinness World Records Museum
    • Here you can experience not only the oldest but also the most recent Guinness World Records. In fact, here you can discover the world’s largest work of art to the lowest limbo!
    • You will find the Guinness World Records Museum located on Hollywood between Highland and McCadden, across the street from the Hollywood Wax Museum. Admittance is $11 for children, $21 regular.

    • This is the only place in Hollywood where you will find shrunken heads, a 12ft tall robot, and an authentic vampire killing kit. Indeed, there are over 300 exhibits and artifacts in 15 themed galleries on 2 floors, all to satisfy your curiosity.
    • Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is located on Hollywood Blvd at N.Highland Ave, across the street from the Hollywood Wax Museum. Admittance is $12 for children, $23 for adults.

    • This is not a hotel, but a room escape attraction. The Escape Hotel Hollywood is the largest live escape venue in the world.
    • What exactly is a room escape attraction? It is a physical adventure game where you the player must solve a series of puzzles using clues, hints, and strategy to escape from the room you’ve been locked into. A time limit forces players to solve the clues rapidly to unveil the secret plot. Scenario settings vary such as a hotel room, office, prison cell, space station, etc.
    • Room escape attractions are like scavenger hunts in that you must work together to solve clues to find your next challenges until you unlock a final answer.
    • The Escape Hotel finds itself located at 1705 Cherokee at the corner of Hollywood Blvd. Playing a scenario with a team will cost $40 per person and a reservation is encouraged.
